This was a day I could have slept through and not missed. I woke up incredibly stiff and sore from all the trotting yesterday. My allergies were going absolutely crazy again, as there was still ragweed everywhere. By now, it was causing me to feel sick, dragged down and tired, and bordering on a migraine. The canyon we rode through was pretty- with red rock walls- but I didn’t care. It wasn’t as dramatic as other canyons we’d been in, I was sick of the desert, and I felt lousy. Richard said the day felt like it was dragging on too, even though we only went a normal day’s distance. At one point, I got off Apache and started crying and wanted to quit. Richard was really nice to me and talked me through getting back on and ‘keepin on’- at least until we got to water!
My muslces hurt so bad I could hardly move. I had a migrane starting. We got to camp and I could barely work. While Richard made dinner, I fell asleep on our pile of saddles, woke up to eat, then went to sleep and slept hard- glad that the day was over.
